CPT - Curricular Practical Training Information

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is defined to be alternative work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum that is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with a school. International students wishing to participate in an off- campus training program must obtain CPT.

CPT must be an integral part of an established curriculum. In practical terms, "integral part of an established curriculum" means (as defined by SEVP) an opportunity mut be required by the curriculum or, if not required, the student must received credit for the training. A student must be enrolled in their program's internship course to be eligible for CPT.
