International Undergraduate

 

If you are interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree program at Louisiana Tech University, please refer to the checklist below. The following is a list of all undergraduate admission requirements needed to make an application for admission.

Please email all required documents to international@latech.edu. Even if an official copy is sent through the testing institution, please email a PDF to our office. 

 

Academic Checklist:

1. Complete the Online Application Form start an application

2. 2.5 GPA - converted to US grading scale by admissions coordinator

3. English Proficiency - you must have one of the following

  1. High school curriculum taught in English
  2. SAT - EBRW subscore of 500
  3. English Accuplacer - score of 250
  4. English proficiency test: TOEFL (iBT 79), IELTS (6.5), Duolingo (100)

4. English Placement - you must have one of the following

  1. 3.0 GPA* - converted from your high school transcripts into US grading scale by our admissions coordinator
  2. SAT - EBRW subscore of 500
  3. English Accuplacer - score of 250
  4. English profociency test: TOEFL (iBT 79), IELTS (6.5), Duolingo (100)

     *This will place you in the lowest available level for English. You may be asked to take a placement test in order to place higher. 

5. Math Placement - you must have one of the following

  1. 3.0 GPA* - converted from your high school transcripts into US grading scale by our admissions coordinator
  2. SAT - Math subscore of 510
  3. Math Accuplacer - score of 250

     *This will place you in the lowest available level for Math. You may be asked to take a placement test in order to place higher. 

6. Copy of Current Valid Passport

 

All documents must be submitted as PDF attachments via email. Official transcripts can be sent to us electronically or mailed in a sealed envelope directly from the school. Please make sure all transcripts are sent to the Office of International Affairs - international@latech.edu. You may choose to mail physical documents to the address provided below.

 

Notes:

Conditional Admission will be given to those with unofficial or in-progress transcripts and will be required to submit their official and complete transcripts by the end of the first quarter. Transcripts submitted directly by the applicant will be considered unofficial.

Unconditional Admission can only be given with official and complete transcripts.

 

West African applicants: Please send us the information necessary to pull your WAEC, WASSCE, or NECO scores from the official website. This will serve as your official transcripts. We require the following information (please do not send a picture of your scratchcard):

Nigeria: Examination number, Examination year, Private/School candidate, PIN, Serial Number
Ghana: Index Number, Examination Type, Examination Year, Date of Birth, Voucher Serial Number, PIN
NECO: Emaination year, Examination type, Token, Registration Number

 

A GED is a specific type of certificate that someone may get in the US when they do not complete high school. Please do not select that you have a GED unless you have received such a certificate. "High school diploma" is likely the appropriate option to select on your application for your degree type.

 

Immigration Checklist:

The following items are required in order to receive your Initial I-20 form. This form is used to apply for your F-1 Student Visa. Upon your acceptance, you will receive your I-20 and instructions on how to apply for the F-1 Student Visa. For more details on the visa application process, please click here. **Please note** that we do not advise applicants to schedule a visa interview appointment prior to receiving their I-20. We cannot expedite the issuance of anyone's I-20 due to an approaching interview date. 

1. Bank Statement or Scholarship Letter

  • Proof of available yearly funds to cover each academic year of study (Fall, Winter, and Spring) in the form of an official bank statement of account, government scholarship letter, or athletic scholarship letter (accounts must be accessible at any time). Must be a recent statement, no older than 6 months at the time of I-20 issuance

Most admission documents can be sent as PDF attachments via email (international@latech.edu). You also have the option to send your documents by express or standard mailing options.

Funding

An application will not be considered without specific documentation of yearly funds available to cover each academic term of study. Louisiana Tech University estimates the student’s average cost for an academic term of nine months (Fall, Winter, and Spring) to be:

When the required credentials are on file, your application will be processed and you will be notified of the decision. If you want anyone other than yourself to receive information, we must have written permission from you stating the full name of the person. 

**I-20s will only be issued to accepted students.

 

Provisional Deadlines - please submit your application by the following dates:
